Betterhood is an app about Saskatoon.
It keeps the record of what happened in the city yesterday, it carries a problem on your street to the City, and it is how a neighbour calls the rest of the street out to a cleanup.
What it does
- Yesterday, written down. The day the city just had, story by story, out of the City’s own news releases and what CBC and Global Saskatoon published. Most days there is a recording you can listen to instead.
- A problem on your street. Pick the kind from a short list, drop a pin, and the app files it into the City’s own system. Potholes, junk in the road, a sidewalk lifted enough to trip on.
- The neighbours on it. A resident can call a back alley cleanup, a crossing count or a food drive, and the street answers yes or no.
- Council, in plain words. What is being decided, when the door closes on having your say, and where your neighbours stood.
Getting the app
Betterhood is an iPhone app, and it is still in testing.
It is not on the App Store yet, so there is no public download link today. If you are already a tester, open it from your home screen. If you would like to be one, ask below and I will send you an invitation.
Built for Saskatoon. It needs iOS, and it is free.
Say something
Questions, an idea, a bug, or a request to join the test — this reaches one person in Saskatoon, and that person answers.
What you type here is emailed to the person who makes Betterhood, and is not used for anything else. Leaving the email box empty is fine — you just will not get a reply. You can also write to milad@betterhood.app directly.
What it costs, and what it does with you
Betterhood is free. There is no advertising, no third-party tracking and no crash reporting, and your information is never sold. The privacy policy says exactly what is collected, where it goes, and what is never done with it. The terms are short.
Who makes it
One person in Saskatoon. Betterhood is an independent app: it is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the City of Saskatoon, and it reads only the City data the City already publishes.
