These terms cover your use of Betterhood. By using the app you agree to them.
What Betterhood is
Betterhood is an independent app that lets Saskatoon residents report civic problems —
potholes, graffiti, damaged signs, street lights, water and drainage issues and
more — follow the City's repair progress, and see what neighbours have reported.
Some report types are handed off to the City's own web pages rather than filed
through Betterhood; the app tells you when that happens.
Betterhood is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Saskatoon. It reads the City's public road data and submits reports through
the City's own public reporting system, but it is not a City service and cannot
speak for the City.
Not for emergencies
Do not use Betterhood to report an emergency. For anything urgent or dangerous,
contact emergency services or the City directly.
Do not use Betterhood while driving.
What Betterhood can and cannot promise
Betterhood shows road data published by the City. That data can be incomplete,
delayed, or wrong, and the City resets parts of it seasonally. Betterhood displays it
as-is.
Specifically, Betterhood does not guarantee that:
- a report you submit will be received, actioned, or repaired,
- repair status shown in the app is current or accurate,
- a road shown as repaired is safe,
- the app will be available or working at any given time.
Betterhood is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent
the law allows, Betterhood and its operator are not liable for loss or damage arising
from your use of the app, from data it displays, or from a report reaching or
not reaching the City.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Reports you submit
When you submit a report, it goes to the City's public reporting system and
becomes part of the City's records.
- Betterhood cannot withdraw or delete a report once the City has it.
- Deleting your Betterhood account does not remove reports already filed.
- Your contact details are included only if you switch on sharing for that specific report.
Submit reports honestly. Do not file reports for problems that don't exist, or
repeatedly file the same one.
Your content and conduct
You keep ownership of what you write and photograph. By posting praise, ratings,
comments or reports, you give Betterhood permission to store and display that content
within the app so it can do its job.
Do not post content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, threatening, deceptive,
or that reveals someone else's private information. Do not impersonate anyone.
Do not use Betterhood to target a person or a property.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You
can report any invitation, comment, praise post, rating comment, report or
profile from within the app, and block the person behind it. Blocking hides
everything that person has posted from you immediately, and tells a moderator;
a report they filed stays on the map as the City's record, with their words
and photos hidden. Language that breaks these rules is filtered before it is
posted. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules
is removed, and the account that posted it is removed from Betterhood.
Betterhood may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Betterhood Points, badges and rankings
Betterhood Points, badges, trust levels and neighbourhood rankings are a record of
participation. They are not currency: they have no cash value, cannot be
bought, sold, transferred or redeemed, and may be adjusted or reset — for
example when a report is reversed, or if points were awarded in error or gained
by abuse.
Accounts
You may use Betterhood as a guest. As a guest, your data lives only on your device and
is lost if you erase the app.
If you create an account, keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for
activity under your account.
You may stop using Betterhood at any time. Betterhood may suspend or end access for anyone
breaking these terms.
Apple's licence agreement
Betterhood uses the standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement in addition to these terms.
Changes
These terms may change. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting
the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Saskatchewan and the
laws of Canada that apply there.
